Our Team
Karen - The Pet Groomer
Karen has been working with animals for years! She graduated St. Clair College in 1985 as an Animal Health Technician. She spent 11 years working in a clinical setting as a Technician, Groomer and Office Manager. After her years in clinic, Karen decided to pursue new opportunities outside the veterinary industry but her heart quickly called her back to her first love - working with animals!
Since learning to groom in 1985, Karen has been grooming on a part-time basis and took it on full time in February 2008 joining Guelph Animal Hospital in the Groomingdale’s Salon. At Guelph Animal Hospital, Karen showcased her wonderful talent; doing a fantastic job making all the grooming animals gorgeous! Karen grooms all breeds of dogs (large and small), cats and rabbits.
When she’s not working hard as The Pet Groomer, Karen works harder taking care of her small zoo of 14 cats (not including fosters). She loves spending time with them; cuddling, watching their antics and giving tons of scratches for purrs! When she finds free time and a cat-free hand, Karen enjoys tackling home repairs and renovations, relaxing with a Sudoku puzzle and helping her local humane society. She takes great pleasure in raising orphaned kittens and always seems to have a litter or two around her home. Karen loves every minute of it though…even when it includes 2:00 am feedings!
Renata - The Pet Groomer Right Hand Lady
Renata Sauder began working with Karen during her exciting transition to The Pet Groomer in her new location. Renata greatly enjoys working alongside Karen as she learns more every day about the details of professional animal grooming!
Renata worked in the food service industry throughout high school. Upon graduating, she was offered a promotion to become part of the restaurant management team. She maintained her position for 3 years before deciding she wanted to pursue a job that was more oriented around her passion - working with animals.
When not up to her elbows in shampoo suds and dog fur, Renata enjoys being outdoors (especially alongside animals). During the winter she focuses mostly on keeping her Huskies in tip top shape for competing in sprint dog sled races across Ontario. During the summer, while the Huskies are on "vacation", she has more time to spend horseback riding/training, fishing, hiking, camping and even being a decoy for personal protection dogs!
